Connect is a web-based, career preparation and readiness platform that links area high school students to local employers, providing them with real workplace experiences. This online tool integrates career development tools, social media elements and workforce data into one seamless system to help companies, students, educators and parents connect efficiently and effectively.
The Connect program outlines the specific education and/or training necessary for student's career interests. Students can then connect their career interests with local companies and their employees who have registered with Connect to offer work-based learning such as job-shadowing, internships, company tours and summer employment. The program provides a customized information sharing and resource gathering environment where students may:
- Learn about Sangamon County companies that offer jobs and careers in their areas of interest
- Participate in career discussions with an online mentor/career coach from that company
- Further interact with that company by participating in other work-based activities.
